The country has ethnic diversity, where over 2000 groups with different ethnic identities in genetic makeup and lifestyles cohabit.[ 6 ] There may be significant differences in the stroke population of North and South India, both in terms of incidence and risk factor profile.[ 7 ] Secondary prevention with a structured semi-interactive stroke prevention package in INDIA (SPRINT INDIA) trial was undertaken to ascertain the efficacy of a structured semi-interactive stroke prevention package in patients with subacute stroke to reduce recurrent strokes, myocardial infarction, and death.[ 8 ] This did not reduce the vascular events when compared to standard care.
