Since our analysis for consecutive autopsy cases in a community revealed an increasing trend in the period prevalence of PC in subgroup analyses adjusted for age at death, the recent increase in PC prevalence is likely to involve additional factors beyond improvements in screening and diagnostic techniques and the aging of the population.
