With regard to regional heterogeneity, a decreasing trend is observed from central, western, and eastern cities, which reflects differences in life-cycle role responsibilities and regional governance stages.The findings of this paper provide new perspectives for understanding the driving mechanisms of environmental protection behaviours in China.
