RT-qPCR results further demonstrated that the mRNA expression levels of general macrophage markers CD68 and F4/80 were significantly elevated in the T2DM-SED group compared to the CON group, while all three exercise interventions showed a decreasing trend, with swimming exercise causing a significant reduction in CD68 mRNA expression ( Figure 4 C,D).
