Immune cell number changes were assessed by immunofluorescence staining ( Figure 1 C), which revealed significant reductions in CD3 + T cells ( P = .025), CD4 + cells ( P = .002), and CD3 + CD4 − (CD8) T cells ( P = .02), and a nonsignificant trend for decreases in CD3 + CD4 + T cells ( P = .067) and CD3 − CD4 + cells ( P = .055; Figure 1 D).
