On multivariate analysis the presence of focal defects on DMSA scan predicted recurrent UTIs [OR 3.89, (95% CI 1.2, 12.6), p = 0.024]; female sex was marginally significant [OR 3.22, (95% CI 0.995, 10.423), p = 0.051], but the number of UTIs prior to scan did not remain statistically significant ( p = 0.059).
