Although recent work has demonstrated that mortality from untreated AS may be significant even at lower disease severity levels, 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 , 23 , 24 , 25 the complex relationship between AS severity and symptoms attributed to AS has been less well studied. 24 , 26 This includes a gap in understanding: 1) the prevalence of documented potential AS-related symptoms across the spectrum of AS severity; and 2) the association between symptom status with subsequent morbidity and mortality at different levels of AS severity.
