1 Prevalence ranges between 1% and 2% in western countries and there is an increasing trend of diagnoses worldwide. 2 Besides increased awareness and more frequent testing, there is also evidence that there is a true increase in prevalence which could be due to environment-driven gut microbiota perturbances.
