In our analysis of the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes ( KEGG) difference pathways in the three groups, we found that the ubiquinone and other terpenoid-quinoe biosynthesis, peroxisome, riboflavin metabolism, lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis, biofilm formation-vibrio cholerae, and citrate cycle (TCA cycle) pathway decreased in BD-CI groups compared to the HC, and in contrast, an increasing trend was observed in the BD-nCI group (Additional file 7: Figure S3, F).
