Furthermore, the presence of a highly significant negative linear relationship between pulmonary vascular conductance and the PA backflow‐to‐inflow ratio (Fig. 5 C ) implied that an increasing vascular cross‐sectional area related to pulmonary vasodilatation and/or vascular recruitment was a major factor underlying falls in PA backflow.
