Although temperature had a modest overall effect (F(1,48) = 4.177; p = 0.0465; η 2 = 0.0097), its interaction with seed coat phenotype was highly significant (F(5,48) = 11.90; p < 0.0001; η 2 = 0.1382) ( Table 2 and File S2—Table S5 ), suggesting that thermal conditions selectively enhance the expression of specific seed colors already intrinsic to the species.
