16 In the context of advance decisions, whether something falls within the category of care or medical treatment is highly significant. 17 If the refusal relates to ‘basic care’, it is purportedly excluded by the Code; if it constitutes a refusal of medical treatment, it will bind healthcare professionals provided that it is otherwise valid and applicable under the MCA.
