Over the last five years, the reported suicide incidence rates, derived from annual health statistics reports issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Health, were 1.0, 0.8, 1.7, 1.4, and 1.0 per 100000 population in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively, with an increasing trend in 2021 and 2022 [ 34 ].
