In East Asia, with a continuous decrease in smoking rates and extensive introduction of low-dose CT (LDCT) for lung cancer screening, there’s an increasing trend in the proportion of LCNS, 18 20 a substantial stage shift towards earlier lung cancer diagnoses, 20 , 22 and a sharp increase in incidence rates in women and young populations. 23 24 These observations, in contradiction to classical concepts, prompt the study of sex-specific and age-specific lung cancer incidence rates in individuals who have never smoked.
