The results found that the E-cadherin gene showed a decreasing trend with the increasing doses of SiNPs, while MMP-3 and Twist showed an increasing trend with the increasing doses ( Figure 4 B), suggesting that SiNPs might induce a decrease in intercellular adhesion and the subsequent acquisition of mesenchymal cell markers, leading to the development of EMT.
