Analysis of gonadal maturity stages (GMS) revealed no significant differences between sexes (Wilcoxon rank sum test, W = 110,076, p = 0.09), but showed highly significant spatial variation across sampling sites (Kruskal–Wallis test, χ 2 = 278.35, d.f. = 3, p < 0.001).
