Despite the small numbers, a trend towards significance was seen between the band pattern and cancer history: among cancer cases ( n = 4), 2 (50%) had “double” hnRNP L status versus 2/21 (9.5%) in cancer-free patients, whereas “single” hnRNP L was seen in 1/4 (25%) cancer cases versus 15/21 (71.4%) cancer-free patients ( p = 0.066).
