Follow-up evaluations revealed a slight trend toward reduced psychological distress in patients receiving hormonal treatment, although no statistically significant differences in psychological outcomes were detected between the groups. 19 In 1987, Parmar et al. conducted a study revealing that the psychological distress linked to orchiectomy, the surgical removal of one or both testicles, was only marginally more significant than that experienced by patients receiving alternative treatments.
