WHO recommends considering the introduction of hepatitis A vaccination for individuals aged 12 months or older based on the following criteria: transition from high to intermediate endemic level; an increasing trend of acute hepatitis, including severe disease among older children, adolescents or adults; and evidence of cost-effectiveness. 11 Our survey findings indicate that most Indian states have intermediate endemicity of infection.
