Most included studies were prospective and used EORTC-HN for patient-reported outcomes, consistently reporting improved outcomes in reconstruction groups, irrespective of flap type, demonstrating a positive trend over time. 88 , 91 , 101 , 108 Canis et al 84 found significantly better outcomes in the swallowing, speech, and social eating subdomains of the EORTC QLQ-H&N35 questionnaire after reconstruction with RFF compared with primary closure.
