This study offers important guidance for developing a national plan of action for whale shark conservation in Indonesia by identifying specific locations and seasons that should be prioritized for resource allocation and logistical planning to anticipate strandings, particularly during upwelling periods in areas currently showing an increasing trend (Fig. 4 ).
