We found a remarkable prevalence of opium use among individuals over 50 years old, consistent with previous studies conducted in Kerman, suggesting an increasing trend of opium use in older demographics. 14 Among HTN crisis patients, opium addiction was more common in men, whereas women had higher rates of opium addiction in the controlled HTN group.
