The Shannon index for both the vagina and cervix exhibited an increasing trend from multiple EPs (vagina 0.481, cervix 0.502) to single EPs (vagina 0.601, cervix 0.646) and then to controls (vagina 0.638, cervix 0.744); these differences were not statistically significant ( Fig. 1A and B ).
