The same observation occurred in potassium level, where controlled patients gained a significant hyperkalemia, which increased by 23.9% from baseline, while there was a substantial decrease in potassium level in the niacin group by 27%, so there was a highly significant reduction between both groups in favor of the niacin group ( p -value 0.001).
