It is clinically important to gain a better understanding of the possible association between low Apgar scores and educational outcomes, particularly in light of our previous study showing an increasing trend in low 5-min Apgar scores among (near) term singletons in the Netherlands, which may indicate that more children are at risk for adverse long-term outcomes.
