Consistent with prior evidence, a positive trend toward the effect of HL interventions on SM is found in disease-specific reviews in chronic conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, 33 diabetes, 58 heart failure, 74 as well as in healthy populations. 75 Similarly, a recent systematic review of HL interventions reported a statistically significant effect post-intervention in 72% of the studies. 31 Whereas most studies focus on total SM scores, our study offers a robust and differentiated picture of the efficacy of these interventions by estimating effect sizes at a domain-specific level.
