15 In many developed countries, there has been an increasing trend in esophageal AC, with a male-to-female ratio of up to 9:1. 15 , 16 A better understanding of recent trends in incidence and mortality, stratified by cancer subtype, can highlight the contribution of modifiable risk factors and help guide prevention, early detection, and surveillance efforts. 16 Our aim was to report the Norwegian trends in incidence and mortality for esophageal SCC and AC, and for cardia and non-cardia gastric ACs during the period 1993–2022, stratified by sex, age, and stage of disease.
