Even though the current study focused more clearly on periodontitis patients by including only people with incident periodontitis, and utilized twice longer follow‐up and different causal inference methods, these findings align well with previous findings [ 17 ] that restricting the frequency of periodontal therapy to no more than once every second year among a random sample of 50‐year‐olds did not have a practically significant impact on the cumulative incidence of tooth extraction.
