The median time between symptom onset and diagnosis of STEC-HUS was 11 (7–23) days, with a nonsignificant trend toward delayed diagnosis in patients with localized TMA (15 days, range: 10–25) as compared with patients with systemic TMA (10 days, range: 6–26), possibly because of a milder clinical presentation.
