In Experiment 1, initial fixation position was the only measure for which the effect of morpheme positional frequency exceeded the effect of the reading phase, and the only measure whose morpheme positional frequency effect was highly significant (p = .002), hinting at a tight linkage between this measure and initial morpheme positional frequency.
Finally, except for the initial fixation position showing a marginally significant interaction effect (p = .092), all other indicators showed no significant interaction effects between initial morpheme positional frequency and reading phase (all p > 0.1), suggesting largely independent contributions of positional frequency and learning phase to eye-movement behavior.
However, given that most other measures showed no such interaction and this effect only reached marginal significance (p < .1), we are inclined to treat this finding as statistically unreliable, though future research may help clarify whether a genuine interaction exists.
