After correcting for multiple testing ( p -values ≤ 0.0167 considered as significant), multivariable linear regression models revealed a significant interaction between APOE4 and NFT density regarding the association with pS65-Ub level in the hippocampus (interaction p = 0.0078); though highly significant in both groups, the magnitude of this association was much stronger in carriers of APOE4 (β: 0.66, p = 1.10 × 10 –7 ) than in non-carriers (β: 0.38, p = 1.16 × 10 –7 ) (Fig. 2 a, Supplementary Table 1).
