It should be noted that the increase in effective atomic number when comparing silicone phantoms to skin tissue slightly increases the number of pair-production events in the medium which may result in a slight increase in Cherenkov light at the surface of the material, although the magnitude of this is not thought to be highly significant here due to the energy range of radiotherapy.
