Although previous studies had highlighted the mediating role of negative emotions and depression in the relationship between CB and NSSI ( 38 , 82 , 83 , 84 ), in our study, depression was not a mediator, while anxiety and mixed anxiety-depression symptoms were found to be highly significant mediators between CB perpetrators and NSSI.
