Candidates have at least 100 residues (mean = 875.61 ± 2.36, n = 62374), highly significant matches with mammalian VGL-chanome members (E-value < 4.6 × 10 − 5 , phmmer ) and Pfam ion channel domains (E-value < 3.5 × 10 − 5 , hmmser ch ), best-hit matches with mammalian VGL-channels (96.54% of candidates), and the majority (86.59%) have a predicted topology with 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 24 transmembrane (TM) domains (Supplementary Fig. 1c ).
