Some parameters showed a nonsignificant trend of higher mortality, compared to those alive at hospital discharge; it concerned patients with splenomegaly, hepatitis, higher ferritin values, requirement of higher number of red blood cell transfusions, and having an underlying hematological diseases ( Table 1 ).
