The discrepancy of the studies may be due to several reasons, such as the target population of the studies (risk of association between MetS and colorectal neoplasia is substantial in males) 16 , baseline colonoscopy findings (if the baseline colonoscopy finding is high risk, the risk of association between MetS and colorectal neoplasia may not be significant, rather the advanced features of neoplasia at baseline mainly determines the recurrence) 9 and level of adjusted confounders.
