Consistent with commonly accepted thresholds for microdilution susceptibility studies, 2-fold MIC differences were attributed to technical variability; therefore, while we recognize that consistent 2-fold MIC reductions could suggest an overall trend toward increased susceptibility, only MIC differences of ≥ 4-fold were considered biologically meaningful.
