We also predicted that blame may lead to estimates that the behavior was more common than a neutral statement, although we actually found a marginally significant difference in the other direction such that participants in the blame condition made lower estimates of the percentage of people in the country who tip compared with the control condition, t (576) = 1.94, p = .052, 95% CI [−10.40, 0.05].
