When the sex ratio data were categorized into 5- and 10-year periods, we found a highly significant decrease in the proportion of male live births ( m = 0.348, χ 2 = 7.472, df = 1, p = 0.006) for the Aamjiwnaang community during the most recent 5-year interval (1999–2003) compared with the expected sex ratio ( Table 1 ).
