The BKMR results revealed an increasing trend in the combined effect of multiple metal exposures with increasing metal quartiles and revealed that of the seven metals, only Zn interacted with Cd, Wang et al. similarly applied BKMR to six essential metals (V, Se, Mg, Co, Ca, Mo), finding the mixture negatively associated with fasting plasma glucose in a dose-response pattern.
