A positive trend existed for the relationship between dietary diversity and gut microbial alpha diversity (Faith’s PD), although not statistically significant (t-value = 1.63, r = 0.20, p = 0.108, Fig. 4 b).None of the main effects, age (F1,53 = 0.27, p = 0.603), region (F1,53 = 0.11, p = 0.742), balsam fir consumption (F1,53 = 2.23, p = 0.141), GA:C (F1,53 = 0.43, p = 0.516), or UN:C (F1,53 < 0.01, p = 0.996) were statistically significant in their relationship with gut microbial diversity.
