3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 Pregestational diabetes, including type 1 (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D), affects 0.5%–2.4% of pregnancies globally, with an increasing trend observed annually. 8 Pregnant women with T1D typically have worse glycaemic control and longer disease duration, whereas women with T2D are older, have higher rates of obesity, insulin resistance, ethnic diversity and socioeconomic deprivation. 9 , 10 , 11 Despite this, rates of obesity are still high in T1D cohorts.
