Interestingly, peripheral tissues from the digestive system (liver, minor salivary gland), reproductive system (uterus, testis), and immune system (lymphocytes) contained highly significant coexpression modules relevant to mRNA splicing, immune pathways, cell cycle, and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling, which have been implicated in ASD [ 18 , 56 , 57 ].
