However, survival time differed significantly based on FEV1 z -score severity categories (log-rank test, χ 2 = 8.384, p = 0.039), and FVC severity (log-rank test, χ 2 = 11.972, p = 0.007; Table 2 and Figure 1 ). The univariate Cox regression analyses revealed that lower FEV1 z -score (HR = 0.407, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.229–0.721, p = 0.002), FVC z -score (HR = 0.452, 95% CI: 0.248–0.823, p = 0.009), and abdominal circumference (HR = 1.065, 95% CI: 1.02–1.112, p = 0.005) were significantly associated with an increased mortality risk in individuals with SMI, while age showed a nonsignificant trend toward an association with mortality (HR = 1.105, 95% CI: 0.982–1.233, p = 0.089).
