The network showed highly significant functional enrichment for muscle‐related processes, including sarcomere (GO:0030017, p adj = 5.3 × 10 −10 ), muscle system process (GO:0003012, p adj = 1.1 × 10 −7 ), myofibril assembly (GO:0030239, p adj = 2.6 × 10 −6 ), and regulation of muscle contraction (GO:0006937, p adj = 2.6 × 10 −6 ), as well as calcium ion binding (GO:0005509, p adj = 1.7 × 10 −4 ), supporting a central role for contractile and excitation–contraction coupling mechanisms in VGLL3‐associated genotype differences.
