These came to a head around the year 2000, when a number of highly significant reports emerged on the Bristol and Alder Hey scandals. 34 , 35 Their significance ethically is that the working parties investigating them emerged with a series of insightful reports spelling out the basic ethical values that need to be considered when dealing with body parts and organs. 36 , 37 These apply most forcefully to pathologists, although they are relevant for anatomists.
