When analysing the change scores (remembered fairness minus imagined fairness) to assess whether self-serving biases affected participants’ appraisals, it was clear that Trump supporters increased in fairness (changes: M = 2.14, SD = 1.55), while Harris supporters decreased (changes: M = -0.63, SD = 2.05), with the difference between these two changes being highly significant ( β = 0.60, 95%CI[0.49, 0.70], p < 0.001; Supplementary Tables 31 – 32 ).
