Head injury was the second most common location of injury 1 ( figure 4 and online supplemental appendix 1 ), and lack of helmet usage is a highly significant factor. 34 Simple safety measures, such as helmet use, have been shown to reduce injuries, with parental enforcement being a key factor in compliance. 35 36 This research highlights the need for a dual approach in schools and curriculum planning to integrate safety education into formal teaching and to establish policies for supervised play opportunities.
