124 A previous study carried out by Kuvibidila et al, detected a highly significant level of “serum transferrin receptor” (sTFR) expression in males that had new diagnosis of prostate cancer, there was no correlation with the stage of the cancer nor tissue inflammation. 125 Also, a more recent study by Johnson et al, reported the expression of “transferrin receptor 1” in both normal and prostate cancer cells, with the later said to have significantly higher expressions of TFR1 proteins and mRNA. 126 Therefore, the result of these studies suggest that the possible target of this TFR1 could be a novel approach for the treatment of prostate cancer.
