The prevalence of airflow obstruction showed an increasing trend across smoking status, from 11.8% (95% CI: 11.3–12.3) in never smokers to 19.7% (95% CI: 18.1–21.4) in former smokers, and to 23.5% (95% CI: 22.3–24.8) in current smokers ( P < 0.001).
